Tales of Cosmos PC

Tales of Cosmos for PC is a science fiction adventure developed by Red Dwarf Games.

Plot

The production tells a story of two astronauts – Professor Gagayev and Perseus, a talking dog. The plot revolves around Shuttle’s Bane, a mysterious magnetic anomaly that draws each spaceship that comes too close to it. The main objective of the two is to find a way of neutralising this problem.

Mechanics

The campaign takes place in one planetary system. You visit e.g. Novaclad – a gigantic planet – and many other worlds along with their moons. In contrast to other adventure games, Tales of Cosmos puts emphasis on the open structure of the universe, which does not come at the expense of freedom of exploration. It is up to the player where to go and what to do.

Each planet and moon is inhabited by NPCs of different races. Some of them are helpful, some will try to get in your way. Mechanically, Tales of Cosmos is a classic adventure. You mostly explore, collect items, chat with characters, and solve puzzles. The title is fairly difficult, and a number of problems impose planning a few steps ahead on the surfaces of numerous planets. However, the title introduces a simple hint system for those less experienced.

Technical aspects

Tales of Cosmos published on PC utilises decent, 2D graphics in a cartoon style and features a traditional, point-and-click interface. In contrast to the most adventure titles, this one includes powerful modding tools, so the players can create their own worlds and stories.
