The next installment of the famous arcade series, created mainly for gaming saloons. The third part was initially released only on the Xbox console (2002), and after a three-year break it was decided to release the PC version.

The action is observed from FPP and the game is quite unusual. Unlike many popular shooters, we cannot control the main character. The target sight visible on the screen is used to track the emerging opponents. Despite the fact that the plot does not play too much of a role during the game (it is illustrated by cutscenes made on the game engine), it is worth noting its progress.

The action of the third part was set 19 years after the events that took place in House of the Dead 2. The plot revolves around the characters known to fans of the series. Lisa Rogan tries to find her father together with an individual named G (one of the main characters in the second part of the saga). The girl learns that he is being held in a well-guarded complex. Dr. Curien, who has appeared in all parts of the series, is planning to thwart the plans of the main characters. This time, he will release undead and deadly mutants into battle. One of the main advantages of this game is the dynamic course of the story. Monsters appearing on the screen must be efficiently eliminated, otherwise they will hurt the main character. The controlled character has a certain limit of lives - loosing those will end with a game over. In addition to the aforementioned beasts, from time to time there are exceptionally strong bosses, who are usually destroyed by shooting at fixed parts of their bodies. It is also worth mentioning that the environment is highly interactive. Objects visible on the screen can and in many cases should be destroyed. Some items leave behind valuable first aid kits or other bonuses that you can use while playing. The locations of the game world are quite diverse - during the game we visit urban areas or a huge underground research complex.

Due to the fact that HotD III initially went to gaming saloons, it is not too long. The ending titles can be seen after just a few dozen minutes of fun. Some consolation are different path opportunities that appear in some places, which lead to completely new locations. To discover all possible variants, you need to finish the game at least a few times. What's more, you can unlock other bonuses, such as the full second part of House of the Dead, or materials related to the production of a movie based on a dark series. It is also worth mentioning that the game is a bit simpler than its predecessors. This happens mainly due to the option of automatic reloading of weapons after the clip gets empty. The visual setting of the game has been improved, and there are numerous references to the previous installments of the series (location designs, monster appearance, etc.). The graphics contains some elements of the cel-shading technology.
