Between Me and the Night for PC / Windows is an action-adventure game, the debut of RainDance studio.
Between Me and the Night for PC / Windows puts the player in the role of a boy living in a surrealistic world where the present, and recent past often overlap. Alongside this, the narration often switches to a medieval knight traveling across a magical land. Both storylines are gradually brought together during the game, eventually becoming one unified story.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, Betwen Me and the Night for PC / Windows is a mixture of point-and-click interface typical for classic adventure games, and elements of regular arcade games. The gameplay consists mainly of exploration, gathering items and solving puzzles. From time to time, the player's reflexes will also be tested. The gameplay is diversified with numerous mini-games, appropriately instilled into the story's progression. For instance, one of the tasks requires the player to complete a couple of levels of a two-dimensional platformer using an 8-bit gaming console.
The movement mechanics are strongly simplified - all the levels are designed in such a way, that the player can move to left and right only. The interface is also simplified. The player is capable of carrying only up to six items at a time. Nevertheless, puzzle solving is quite difficult here - same goes for the purely arcade elements.
