Lumo is a classic isometric puzzle game with adventure and platform game elements. The game was developed by debuting Triple Eh? studio, led by Gareth Noyce, a veteran of the industry, who has worked on such games as Delta Force: Black Hawk Dawn, Sudeki, Too Human, Fable II and the first two installments of the Crackdown series. The title was published by Rising Star Games.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, Lumo is an attempt to restore splendour to a somewhat forgotten genre and a tribute to classic games from the 1980s and 1990s, such as Head Over Heels, Knightlore, Alien 8 or Chimera and Solstice. While playing, we explore more than 400 different rooms, where we have a mass of traps to avoid, puzzles to solve and secrets to discover. Six hidden arcade mini-games add some variety to the gameplay. The whole things is shown in an old-school isometric perspective, and on the screen, we can see only a fragment of the currently visited location, in the form of a platform, a room or a corridor suspended in space. The game is characterized by a fairly high level of difficulty, and even veterans of the genre should take at least a few hours to complete all the challenges.

Technical aspects

Lumo offers a modern approach to classic isometric titles from the 8-bit and 16-bit era. The game is realized in full 3D and uses high-resolution textures and a whole range of modern lighting effects. At the same time, the devs from Triple Eh? managed to preserve the original spirit of unforgettable classics.
