An arcade twin-stick shooter game focused around a co-op experience. It was developed by Rusto Games - a small developer team specializing in production of mobile games. Spareware takes the player to a dystopian, futuristic version of Helsinki, where the machines start a rebellion against humans. The player assumes the role of a robot allied with humanity, whose task is to reach the so-called Core and set free the friendly HelOS AI. The game is played from the top-down view and the player can shoot anywhere regardless of the direction they are moving. The robot traverses randomly generated city districts, fighting various enemies. The game features extensive personalization options, allowing the player to replace particular body parts of their machine. As the game progresses, special abilities are unlocked. Although Spareware can be played solo, the game is cooperation-oriented and it is recommended to play with three friends in the multiplayer mode allowing the players to take on the roles of different robots in order to make good use of their individual skills.
