Ray Gigant is a jRPG produced by the team at Experience. The publishing was taken care of by Bandai Namco Entertainment, a company known for a variety of productions - from the Tekken and Soulcalibur series, through the Ridge Racer racing game series, to the Dark Souls franchise.

Story

The action of the game takes place in a futuristic version of the city of Tokyo, but the fate of the whole world depends on our actions. This is because powerful aliens called Gigants came to Earth and seemed indestructible until a young boy, Ichiya Amakaze, awakens a mysterious power of Yorigami when defending his home. Shortly after the victory over the alien, the hero lost control of the power, destroying what he tried to protect. During an adventure divided into several chapters, we try to discover the mystery of the boy's power and use it in combat. The plot, however, does not only focus on Amakaze, but also on other characters.

Mechanics

Gameplay in Ray Gigant combines several genres. On the one hand, we are dealing with a dungeon crawler jRPG. The battles, however, are not random and are based on a turn-based system, combined with rhythm game. In each turn we can make a set number of moves, or leave them for later and carry out a more advanced attack. In addition, during the clash, there are sequences called Slash Beat Mode, in which the game becomes reminiscent of Rhythm Heaven and consists of performing correct actions at the right time. All this is complemented by a system of character progression that affects their abilities.

Technical aspects

Ray Gigant's visuals adopt the manga style. In combat, we observe our character from behind its back, and during the exploration we see the world from the FPP.
