Hellion PC

Hellion is a survival sandbox with space simulator features. It is focused on online play and it was created for PC. It is a debut project of Zero Gravity Games.

Plot

The story of Hellion for PC takes place in distant future. During the 23rd century, humanity organizes their first intergalactic colonization mission. Almost million of colonizers (including the protagonist) are sent to the titular galaxy as part of the greatest effort of humanity. However, once the protagonist wakes up after decades of cryogenic sleep, he sees ruined space stations, shipwrecks and traces of fights. 1700 light years away from any help, he is forced to survive in a very hostile environment. He will also try to discover what caused the failure of the mission.

Gameplay

Hellion for PC doesn’t differ much from typical games in the genre. The main difference is that the fight for survival takes place in space. Because of that, in addition to searching for resources, crafting and protecting the avatar’s life, one must also maintain his ship. The developers had an ambition to create a very realistic experience that takes under consideration such things as laws of physics, hardware repairs and advanced damage mechanics (that impacts both the look and behavior of objects). The immersion is also increased because of the usage of first-person perspective that is typical for the genre.

Relations between players are an important aspect of Hellion. The game doesn’t limit actions towards other players in any way –players can betray each other at any time. Despite that, the cooperation is required during exploration and needed to control larger units that require bigger crew. If a fight still breaks out, tactics and usage of electronic devices will determine its outcome. The game also has advanced communication system, including the possibility to evesdrop on unencrypted conversations.

Technical aspects

Hellion for PC uses the Unity Engine. The developers intended to create the most realistic acoustic experience possible. The advanced sound system calculates, among other variables, the distance from the sound source and changes in the environment.
