Exile’s End for PC, PS4 and etc. is a two-dimensional action game, inspired by titles from Commodore 64 and Amiga consoles, such as Flashback or Another World. It has been created by a one-man studio Magnetic Realms of Matt Fielding in cooperation with many experienced developers from Japan that gave the game a unique vibe.

Plot

Exile’s End story isn’t complicated – it’s using typical themes of science fiction genre. When the contact with a colony belonging to a mega-corporation, Ravenwood, is lost, a group of mercenaries (including the protagonist) is sent to investigate the case and find the lost son of Ravenwood’s president. Unfortunately, their ship crashes, with our character miraculously surviving. When he reaches the abandoned colony, he realizes that his paymasters were conducting suspicious experiments.

Game mechanics

Exile’s End for PC, PS4 and etc. combines features of platformer and action game. We explore the planet’s surface, fight with enemies using various guns, grenades etc. Each stage has a boss waiting at the end of it.

Game modes

The story campaign can be finished within a few hours, so developers prepared another mode. In survival, we have to clear levels with rising difficulty, while we power-up our character by buying equipment and weapon upgrades between stages.

Technical aspects

Exile’s End presents players with two-dimensional visuals of high quality, made by Japanese veterans who worked on classic hits of 8 and 16-bit era, like Secret of Mana. The soundtrack has been composed by Keiji Yamagishi, a legendary composer known from Ninja Gaiden, Tecmo Bowl and Captain Tsubasa.
