Ylands PC

Ylands is a warm-hearted sandbox created by Bohemia Incubator, an inside studio of Bohemia Interactive. The studio is tasked with testing new concepts and creating original, experimental productions, while Ylands and parallel Project Argo are its debut projects.

Mechanics

Ylands takes the player to an open world which he can customize at will. The gameplay is based on two premises – building your own worlds is the first one. Titular “ylands” can be placed in various sceneries and conventions: from Wild West, through forests and farms, up to medieval castles and arenas inspired by Feudal Japan. All areas can be subjected to different weather conditions. The player can manipulate the topography, but also construct buildings and items. However, such projects require resources that appear in certain environments.

Additionally, the game contains a survival aspect – in Ylands, survival means acquiring food (e.g. through hunting), being vary of predators such as sharks and boars, as well as having a set of adequate equipment. The fauna consists of predators, as well as domesticable animals, but the players can be accompanied by robots. We explore our domain on foot, or by using various vehicles.

Game Modes

The game offer single and multiplayer modes. Each land can hold up to four players – aside from multiplayer functionalities, players can share their creations with the online community.

Technical Aspects

Ylands takes place in a 3D environment, while the action is seen from a third person perspective. The game is characteristic for its colorful, polygonal graphics, while almost all created elements can be destroyed or modified.
