Boost Beast is a match-3 game, developed by Arzest in cooperation with Arc System Works.

Story

Boost Beast takes the player to an alternative reality, in which, as a result of a mysterious meteorite hitting the Earth, all people were turned into bloodthirsty zombies. The crisis can only be tackled by brave animals, led by the fearless dog Alec.

Mechanics

The pillar of Boost Beast are battles against undead hordes, played in a turn-based mode in two hundred and four arenas. In line with the genre's formula, the actual action takes place not on the battlefield, but on the two-dimensional map, divided into square fields filled with colorful elements - the combination of at least three objects of the same color results in summoning one of a few animals to the battlefield, differentiated not only in terms of their appearance but also combat skills.

In addition to the dogs Alec and Jake, there are cats (Sam and Duke), Porky the pig, Carrie the rabbit and Max the bear; from time to time we can also use Madame Shuffle (mixing the elements present on the board) and three Bomber Brothers placing explosive charges on the board, available after combining four or more blocks of the same color; While the Big Bomb destroys all the blocks around it, the Cross Bomb clears the fields on the top and sides, while the Color Bomb eliminates all objects of a certain color.

In addition to the common zombies and their colorful brethred, resistant to the attacks of heroes of the same color, we have to deal with stronger adversaries, the most powerful of whom are bosses. Defeating the latter requires identifying their weaknesses and adapting tactics. There are also some obstacles present on the board - rocks remain present on the board until we manage to clean the fields nearby; the swamp in each turn summons another adversary to the battlefield; cages effectively immobilize our proteges, and death turns animals into living corpses.

Technical aspects

The two-dimensional visuals of Boost Beast are pleasing to the eye, mainly due to the cartoonish style and rich colors. It is complemented by a catchy soundtrack that accompanies the gameplay.
