Eternium is a hack'n'slash game developed by Making Fun. The main source of inspiration were the best-selling Diablo and Torchlight series. The title is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions.

Story

Eternium takes us to a fantasy universe, where other planets fall to the forces of the ominous Ragadam. After his victorius march through Elderath is over, the villain heads for the next globe, Levana. At this point, the main character enters the fray - burning with vengeance, the protagonist sets out to chase after their eternal enemy.

Mechanics

As in most games of this type, in Eternium the action is shown in isometric perspective. We start the game by choosing a name for our protege and their specialization - we can play the role of a mage, warrior or bounty hunter; individual classes were differentiated in terms of both preferred weaponry and combat skills.

In the course of our adventure we explore various locations (e.g. gloomy forests and cemeteries, smaller or larger settlements, as well as mysterious dungeons), perform tasks commissioned by NPCs and fight the enemies we encounter. The battles take place in real-time and we use melee weapons like swords and axes, offensive and defensive spells and finally firearms, which enables us to eliminate enemies from a safe distance. Various adversaries stand in our way - the bestiary includes animated skeletons and zombies, mechanical beings, as well as powerful demons and dragons acting as bosses. Luckily, the protagonist is not alone - with time other daredevils join him, providing support on the battlefield.

The main characters progressess using experience points we gain during the game and used to advance to subsequent experience levels - then we can increase the value of individual stats describing our character and unlock stronger offensive and defensive skills (each specialization has as much as twenty of them). Not without significance is also the equipment, which we find both on the carcasses of defeated enemies and in special chests; we can also obtain new items by exchanging them for crystals acquired during our voyages.

Game modes

The basic variant of gameplay in Eternium is the story campaign. It is complemented by the Trials of Valor module, where we can test our skills on randomly generated levels. The title enables us to have fun not only on our own, but also in the company of other players, both in co-op mode and in PvP variant.

Technical aspects

Eternium can boast decent visuals, especially in the version designed for mobile devices - small screens effectively mask any deficiencies in the level of detail. We may also like the atmospheric soundtrack. As a curiosity it should be added that the devs gave up pay-to-win elements, and the microtransactions implemented in the game are purely optional.
