Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory is a pack for SWITCH consisting of two games from older consoles: Fallen Legions: Sins of an Empire and Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion. This compilation resembles Fallen Legion+ for PC, but introduces more storylines. It is the work of YummyYummyTummy studio.

Plot

Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire starts the story of princess Cecille, which tries to manage the land of Fenumia after her father’s death. Along the empire, she inherited a mysterious sentient book, and with its secrets, she can bring steel weapons to life. However, the old king’s death revealed that Fenumia isn’t as safe as it seemed. The new queen must fight to protect her heritage.

The second part, Fallen Legion: Flame of Rebellion, at first seems like exactly the same story. However, there is one huge difference – we experience it from completely different perspective. We follow not princess Cecille, but her opponent – a treacherous general Laendura. Both games’ plot intertwine with each other at crucial moments, making an unusual and ambiguous story.

Game mechanics

Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory for SWITCH uses side-scrolling perspective, making it a two-dimensional game. Its gameplay resembles simpler brawlers like Golden Axe or Double Dragon, as well as Valkyrie Profile series due to the borrowed combat system. We control a group of characters at once, each having their unique skill that must be used wisely. The game also features moral choices during the campaign, which give access to special cards. Those let us support our heroes, e.g. by healing them or enhancing their parameters.

Technical aspects

Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory’s uses hand-drawn visuals and while it’s the work of the western developer, it uses a manga style typical for jRPG titles. Beautiful backgrounds and spectacular animations of characters easily catch an eye, while the story is presented through animated cutscenes.
