Orbt

Orbt is a simple arcade game created by the independent company Nickervision Studios. The game was released on mobile devices with iOS and Android systems, and later on also on PC as Orbt XL.

Mechanics

A characteristic feature of Orbt are its simple gameplay mechanics. The player takes control of a planet orbiting a black hole. Their task is to manoeuvre the globe in such a way as to avoid obstacles approaching from all sides (in the form of asteroids, comets or other planets and smaller black holes), and prevent it from reaching the event horizon, which equals game over.

The control is done with one button (or touch screen on smartphones and tablets). Our planet automatically travel on the orbit; when we press the button, it jumps to a higher orbit, and when we do nothing, it approaches the black hole. In the course of the game we gain points, the more, the closer to the black hole we are; the result can be boasted on the online scoreboards. There are also several unique skins for our globe waiting for unlocking.

Technical aspects

Orbt features simple two-dimensional visuals. It is worth noting that some sound effects were performed by the creator himself; the piece accompanying our struggle was composed by a musician known as DJ Chacha.
