Tecmo Stackers was designed by the experienced studio Koei Tecmo, developing games since 1981. The title is a logic game and a clone of Tetris.

Mechanics

Tecmo Stackers is a logic and arcade game, testing reflexes and the ability to think strategically. The task is to arrange gelatinous creatures that fall from the top of the screen, resembling blocks in shape. When at least four such creatures of the same color are next to each other, they disappear from the board. What distinguishes the title from the classic Tetris is the fact that the creatures have the ability to attract each other. This makes it possible to create spectacular, longer and better-scored combinations by removing individual groups of blocks.

Game modes

The devs of the game have prepared several game modes. In addition to the classic mode, where it is possible to compete against AI and a second player on common screen, players can also try to beat records by playing as long as possible or creating the longest possible chain reaction. For those who like bigger challenges, the devs also prepared the faster Insane Mode, where precision of movement and multi-tasking are key.

Technical aspects

Tecmo Stackers is a two-dimensional game adopting a specific, cartoonish and slightly childish style. The game is distinguished by numerous references to Japanese culture, including anime modeled design of characters that appear in the background.
