The Way Remastered Switch

As its title suggest, The Way Remastered is a remastered version of The Way – an old-school hybrid of adventure and platform game, inspired by classics like Another World and Flashback, which debuted for PCs and Xbox One. The new version has been developed and released by SONKA company.

Plot

The Way Remastered follows the same story as the original, with us playing as a scientist who can’t cope with his beloved one’s death. The protagonist is a space explorer and one of its journeys leads him to ancient writings, from which he learns about a potential way to resurrect the dead. Filled with hope, the scientist decides to return to the said planet to examine this case more carefully. But he must face many dangers before he gets his answers, and he won’t get them without contacting an alien population of the planet and discover its secrets.

Game mechanics

The Way Remastered uses side perspective to show the world. The game takes place on the two-hundred screen and focuses on traversing locations filled with secrets and solving logical and environmental puzzles. This is sometimes interrupted by fights against aggressive species of a fauna and hostile inhabitants of the planet. The hero can use the power of the held artifact that grants him supernatural powers like telekinesis, teleportation and the ability to bounce back bullets.

Technical aspects

When working on The Way Remastered, developers not only improved pixel-art visuals and added voice-overs for dialogues, but also deiced to change game mechanics and level design based on the suggestions of players. They also added music player for listening to the game’s climatic soundtrack.
