Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007

PES 6

Another installment in the soccer series developed by a Tokyo-based branch of Konami. The game introduces many novelties, the most prominent one being the International Challenge mode, which is an equivalent to the World Cup championship. Moreover, players get at their disposal licensed national teams (including the Netherlands, England, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) as well as clubs (featuring Bayern Munchen and Manchester United). In comparison to the previous installments, the gameplay mechanics of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 remains unaltered, however, the developers have implemented some novelties into the game’s formula – the game is more dynamic and features fewer interruptions by the referee’s whistle. The free kick mechanism allows players to quickly perform the constant segment of a match. The whole experience is well-accompanied by additional animations, improved textures, and well-developed soccer players’ models. The single player career is complemented by the multiplayer mode.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is an another installment in the perfect soccer simulation series developed by Konami. In comparison to its predecessor, the game features several improvements in terms of new functionalities as well as the gameplay mechanics, and the original teams. In 2007 the game has been released on PlayStation Portable – this is the second installment in the series ever to be available on this console.

Mechanics

Developers from Tokyo have introduced into the game new licensed national teams and clubs – including Bayern Munchen, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Netherlands. Moreover, among the soccer players, there are such celebrities as David Beckham and Javier Saviola with perfectly modeled behavior and appearance.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for PlayStation Portable delivers also the Master League Mode (known from PlayStation 2) allowing a player to control his favorite team. Moreover, the controls have been improved by implementing players’ abilities – all the dekes and dribbles are now more fluent. Apart from the number of ranking modules, one can also test his skills in the exhibition matches. The player not only can choose the type of a match, but also the stadium, team alignment, tactics, and the outfit.

Technical aspects

A player is bound to appreciate the animations featuring e.g. a goalkeeper touching the crossbar when the ball goes over the goal, taking battered players from the field, and the scenes of joy after scoring a goal. The most exciting are the multiplayer matches allowing up to two players to play together using the Wi-Fi connection.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is an another installment in the soccer simulation series developed by Konami. When compared to the previous installments, the game features several improvements in terms of its new functionalities as well as the gameplay mechanics, and the original teams. In 2007 this dynamic and action-filled game has been released on Nintendo DS – this is the first time in the series history when a Pro Evolution Soccer game is available on this platform.

Mechanics

The Nintendo DS version of the game delivers new licensed national teams and clubs – including Bayern Munchen, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Netherlands. Moreover, among the soccer players, there are such celebrities as David Beckham and Javier Saviola with perfectly modeled behavior and appearance. A player is bound to appreciate the animations featuring e.g. a goalkeeper touching the crossbar when the ball goes over the goal, taking battered players from the field, and the scenes of joy after scoring a goal.

Another new aspect featured by Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for Nintendo DS is the Master League Mode allowing a player to control his favorite team.

To increase the excitement, the developers have prepared a multiplayer mode allowing up to two players to play together using the Wi-Fi connection. Interestingly enough, players can observe the match at the top part of the screen. The bottom one, however, presents the stadium from the top-down perspective, allowing players to see in the big picture how the players’ alignment they have selecting is working out. Moreover, the touchscreen enables players to move around the menu and implement quick changes.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is an another installment in the perfect soccer simulation series developed by the Tokyo branch of Konami (in Japan, the game is known as Winning Eleven 10). In comparison to its predecessor, the game features several improvements in terms of its new functionalities as well as the gameplay mechanics, and the original teams.

Mechanics

This installment has introduced new licensed national teams, such as the Netherlands, England, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as clubs such as Bayern Munchen and Manchester United. For the first time in the series, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 features the International Challenge Mode (an equivalent of the World Cup), which allows players to acquire the most precious soccer trophy for their favorite team.

The gameplay of the PC / Windows release of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 resembles those featured in the fourth installment of the series. In comparison to its predecessor, the game described herein is more dynamic and features fewer interruptions by the referee’s whistle. Dribbling animations are quite impressive – now they are much faster and more spectacular. The free kick features now a new functionality allowing a player to perform this fragment of the game faster without losing precious seconds, which an opponent might use to modify his team. Moreover, the matches are even more attractive thanks to the additional animations, such as a goalkeeper touching the crossbar when the ball goes over the goal. All these novelties result in better representation of the soccer matches.

Technical aspects

Perfect gameplay is supplemented with equally good 3D visuals identical to those featured in the previous installment of the series. Minor texture corrections resulted in more realistic soccer players’ faces. New licenses have increased the number of soccer celebrities (including the Dutch team). In terms of its audio layer, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 delivers slightly improved commentary.

The most exciting are the multiplayer matches. In front of one screen, a player can face seven opponents, while online up to four players can play against each other. The latter option is now much more polished, thus playing on online servers does not feature lags typical for previous installments. Additionally, Konami did not forget about the ranking systems and online tournaments.
