Dungeon Keeper had only one serious drawback - it was not fully three-dimensional. The creators of this excellent real-time strategy set themselves the ambitious task of preparing the continuation, using the capabilities of 3D graphics accelerators. Without Peter Molyneux, the Bullfrog Productions team managed to produce a sequel that is as good as the original in terms of playability and even surpasses the original in terms of graphics.

Action Dungeon Keeper 2 once again moves players to a fairy tale kingdom ruled by the retired king Reginald. Several years have passed since the war between good and evil and it seems that the land has finally become calm. Nothing more wrong. The ruler of the underground has a plan how to get to the surface, in which you will need seven pieces of magical crystal, which Reginald once distributed to his knights.

The perversity of the series Dungeon Keeper is that instead of exploring and plundering dungeons, players are given the task of protecting them. Playing the title role of Dungeon Keeper (Dungeon Keeper), they develop dark labyrinths, set traps and send monsters, which are supposed to prevent groups of adventurers and horrible competition.

Working on DK2 the game creators decided to simplify the mechanics of the game and better balance it. For example, casting spells now requires the use of a certain amount of mana, which regenerates at a rate depending on the number of crypts and the area of the domain. In addition, in the Heart of the dungeon there is an unlimited amount of gold, and the creatures thrown into the middle of the battle remain for some time dimmed.

Most of the units available in the game are known from the original, although some - such as goblins - have a slightly modified skills. Too powerful dragons disappeared from the Watchman's menagerie and were replaced by much weaker salamanders. The "barracks" and "sweeper" chambers were also abandoned. In return, they appeared: "The "casino", "arena" and "watchtower".

Audio-visual management Dungeon Keeper 2 is at a high level. Three-dimensional character and room models are refined and animations are fluid and natural. Control in the game takes place with the green paw of the Dungeon Guardian, but at any moment the player can play one of the monsters and follow the course of events from the perspective of the first person.

The undoubted advantage of DK2 is a specific, often even absurd sense of humour, which the creators managed to smuggle into their production. For example, when a monster wins at the casino, the chamber is filled with bright colors, and all those present start dancing Hell Disco.

Without the single player campaign of 20 levels, a multiplayer mode has been implemented in the game. It allows up to four dungeon guards to play together via the Internet or LAN. Among the gameplay options available for both single and multiple players there are two new modes, the most interesting of which is the sandbox "Loszek pieszczoszek".
