Divinity II: Ego Draconis is another entry in the series of computer role-playing games released in 2002 and 2004 by Larian Studios. Contrary to Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, this title features fully three-dimensional graphics and was released for PC and Xbox 360.

Plot

Divinity II: Ego Draconis for PC and X360 tells the story that takes place in the realm of Rivellon, from 50 to 100 years after the events presented in Beyond Divinity. The player assumes the role of a dragon slayer time becomes a Dragon Knight and gains the ability to transform into a dragon. In his dragon form, he can fly and use new abilities.

The protagonist decides to visit the most remote areas of the magic fantasy world, inspired by the Middle Ages (monumental buildings) and filled with various monsters like goblins, wraiths and flying hellish creatures.

Mechanics

The battles with enemies are the key aspect of Divinity II: Ego Draconis for PC and X360. The player can use melee weapons (swords, axes), bows and spells. However, the fights aren’t the only feature of Ego Draconis. During a large portion of the game the player will speak to encountered characters and complete side missions. Advanced story plots and a quest tree are advantages of the game.

Some quests can be completed without using violence. For example, player can receive a quest related to delivering a letter from unfaithful wife to her lover. He can decide whether he delivers the message or destroys it. He can even deliver it to the betrayed husband. Player’s actions can impact the story and what other characters think about him. Good relations with some characters (for example with a blacksmith) can enable the player to negotiate better prices and thus gain better equipment, helpful in finishing the game.

Technical aspects

A climatic soundtrack composed by Kirill Pokrovsky, the creator of music to previous Larian Studios games, is a strong advantage of the game.
