SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate PC

SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate is an official expansion for SWAT 4, a tactical action game for PC that presents the work of an elite spec ops unit of the police.

Plot

As the subtitle suggests, the add-on’s tells of combating the Stetchkov family syndicate that supplies the streets with more and more illegal weapons as well as all kinds of drugs.

Mechanics

SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate offers seven new levels to complete in both single- and multiplayer mode. The latter allows up to ten people (two teams of five people) to cooperate simultaneously. Moreover, the game now has an extra multiplayer game mode: Smash & Grab. Another big novelty is the introduction of a built-in voice communication system.

The developers at Irrational Games enhanced the available options of issuing orders by adding the Leader feature in cooperation mode which gives only one chosen person the ability of giving commands and leading the entire unit. The add-on also introduces a system of tracking player scores and a global ranking system for multiplayer play. The selection of weapons and gadgets to be used by SWAT team members and criminals was enriched with new sniper rifles and gas grenade launcher, among others.

The artificial intelligence procedures were also improved. Now, suspects don’t wait until they make visual contact with the police to start suppressing fire but simply shoot blindly where they think the SWAT is coming from. Moreover, we can’t leave subdued suspects unattended anymore since they can run or worse: take up arms again. In the vanilla SWAT 4 for PC, compliant criminals were considered excluded from further game (“suspect secured”).
