World in Conflict for PC / Windows is a real-time strategy developed by the creators of the bestselling Ground Control series. The developers at Massive Entertainment enable us to assume the role of a military commander and take part in a global war.
We are presented with an alternative reality in which the 20th century Cold War period never ended and the Soviet Union did not collapse. Of course, the aforementioned global war broke out between none other than the capitalist West and the communist East.
The game offers numerous units and military hardware from the second half of the 20th century, including infantry, tanks, armored personnel carriers, aircrafts, rocket launchers, self-propelled guns, helicopters and so on. All military objects are accurately modeled in 3D, just like the entire environment.
Our main goal is to take over key locations on the battlefield by means of skillful military maneuvers. Each side possesses a fixed number of special points that allow it to call for reinforcements. Thanks to this, the resource-gathering aspect was eliminated and the gameplay became incredibly dynamic.
The single player campaign in World in Conflict is supplemented with cutscenes that ensure narrative coherence. The multiplayer mode allows the players to wage war via LAN or the global Internet in multiple game modes. The game supports fan modifications as well.
