Special Platinum Edition of the excellent war game Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. It includes, in addition to the mentioned title, two add-ons: Operation Flashpoint: Gold Upgrade and Operation Flashpoint: Resistance.

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis is a tactical military action game that takes players to the familiar realities of the Cold War of 1985, and while the story itself is fictional, it does convey the possible course of the conflict of those times quite realistically. Communists, opposed to reforms, are trying to restore the "old order", which is being opposed militarily by the members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The campaign is divided into 30 different missions, taking place on five huge maps.

The player controls a strike group of special naval landing units operating in hostile territory. The game offers several game modes. Starting as a simple infantryman, we can use everything we can find, including thirty different vehicles such as trucks, jeeps, tanks, planes and helicopters. We can use a large arsenal of weapons, ranging from simple rifles and shotguns to snipers with silencers, anti-tank launchers, grenades and explosives.

Among eleven available character classes we can find: infantry, anti-tank units, anti-aircraft units, grenadiers, medics, officers, snipers, saboteurs, pilots, gunners, sappers and many other specialties. We can manage up to twelve military units as their commander or play the role of a private soldier. Simultaneously, any number of players can take part in the mission in any configuration, while the rest of the squad will be directed by the computer.

The game runs on a new 3D graphics engine (Real Virtuality) created from scratch, which uses high-quality textures and generates extremely realistic, rich in detail environments, providing a great sense of realism of the modern battlefield. It allows for the use of variable weather and lighting effects in real time, so in the game we will meet with the simulation of: wind, fog, clouds, daylight or falling dusk.

  • 15 missions in single player mode.
  • 30 non-linear missions in Campaign mode.
  • For multiplayer: up to 100 people simultaneously on a local network or the Internet, in Deathmatch, Team Deatchmatch and Cooperative modes.
  • Built-in editor that allows you to create your own missions and campaigns, which you can also easily send to your friends later on.
  • Two difficulty levels, for veterans and beginners.
  • Voice communication between players possible.

Operation Flashpoint: Gold Upgrade is an expansion pack to Operation Flashpoint, a tactical warfare sim developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio. The package contains Update v 1.46 and Upgrade 3, which includes four new vehicles, four additional weapons, two single player missions, five multiplayer maps, the ability to set up your own Operation Flashpoint server, and three special maps. New weapons include a double-barrelled hunting rifle, an M-16 assault carbine, American and Russian grenade launchers, and Vulcan anti-aircraft guns. New vehicles include the BMP-2 and the Kiowa Warrior attack helicopter.

The Western Gold Upgrade release did not lack the first official add-on Operation Flashpoint: Red Hammer. It allows players to take sides in the conflict known from the original version of the game - so we will play as a soldier loyal to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Twenty completely new missions, a new hero (Dimitri Lukin), refined and more realistic voices of Russian soldiers and a whole bunch of fresh interludes introducing us to the story are the main advantages of this expansion. The expansion requires the original game.

Operation Flashpoint: Resistance is the official expansion pack to Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, the best tactical war game of 2001, and is set several years before the events of the original game and the first expansion pack, Red Hammer. The player takes on the role of Victor Troske, an ex-special forces soldier who was living peacefully on the island of Nogova until the Soviet troops invaded. This aggression forced him to take appropriate steps and eventually to lead the resistance movement. A whole new campaign awaits players, this time seen not through the eyes of a regular soldier but a guerrilla fighting to defend his property. Operation Flashpoint: Resistance takes place on an entirely new terrain, i.e. an island of 100 square kilometers with a detailed modeled environment, forests, mountains, industrial buildings, etc. Players will find a variety of new weapons and vehicles as well as new multiplayer missions. The developers have significantly improved the graphics engine (high quality textures) and optimized the game code for multiplayer gameplay.
