Road Trip (also known as Road Trip Adventure, in Japan as Q HG 2) is a very unusual product. We are dealing with a combination of a classic racer and a game.... role-playing! The presented product refers in a very clear way to a line of toys which are very popular in Japan. It is also worth mentioning that this game has been continued several times, as well as versions for other hardware platforms (e.g. GameBoy Advance). Takara, also known for its Samurai Showdown and Battle Arena Toshinden series, is responsible for the production of Road Trip.

The action of the presented production takes place in a fictional world, entirely inhabited by intelligent cars. The game starts shortly after the Road Trip president announces his departure and plans to hand over his position to the rider who wins the race with him. As you can easily guess, we play the role of one of these volunteers. The problem is, however, that in order to enter the final race, it is necessary to obtain an appropriate licence, winning several dozen more and more difficult competitions along the way. The player's task is to advance to the next level of career. In order to get better licenses, it is usually necessary to be in the top six (there are 24 competitors in races).

The next winnings are not only connected with obtaining new licenses, but also with raising additional funds. The money can be used for many different purposes, the most important being, of course, upgrades for your car. So we can take care of increasing the power of the engine, preparing a sports suspension, or fitting better tires. In total there are about 250 parts to unlock and purchase. There was also a quite simplified visual tuning, including the purchase of spoilers or unique varnishes. In addition to the main events, we can also perform side quests, also related to driving. During the game we visit several interesting cities. One of them resembles Las Vegas, for example. Visually, the game went quite well. Everything was kept in a cartoon style. Road Trip also has a very limited multiplayer for two people, giving you the opportunity to take part in one-on-one duels.
