Double Bloob, released on NDS and 3DS, is a typical arcade game, replicating the pattern of the old and cult Pang - a hit from 1989. The game is more suitable for younger players, but adults should also be satisfied, for example, due to the nostalgia. The game was created by Nibris studio in Krakow, which specializes in creating productions for Nintendo consoles.

Plot

The player's task is to shoot down the blobs falling from above. The game is about hitting them before they fall or crush the player. We use a harpoon to destroy them. To make things a little bit more difficult, when a blob is hit, it divides into smaller parts. This simple gameplay has an equally simple story. The Great Evil Bloob came to Earth from the planet Bloobia and kidnapped a small dolphin named Pongo. Double Bloob tells the story of the adventures of the siblings Aen and Niua, who want to save their animal friend.

Mechanics

Various bonuses placed in each level are a lot of fun. Power-ups include extra lives, double shots, air-freezing blocks and a short-lived protective shield. There are also point bonuses for extremely demanding activities, such as extra points for shooting down two blocks at the same time. To make it less pleasant, the game features anti-bonuses, such as slowing down the player, blocking the possibility of shooting or simply subtracting points. The blocks themselves also have special properties. Some regularly disappear for a short period of time, while others are built of stone making them harder than others.

Game modes

Double Bloob has three different gameplay modes. Quest Mode contains ten different worlds, each with ten levels. This gives us a total of one hundred levels. At the end of each world, a boss is waiting for players. Point Attack mode allows you to play in any of the previously unlocked stages. Blobs are appearing faster and faster and need to be destroyed more and more efficiently. The last one is Time Attack - playing the levels with a time limit.

Technical aspects

The graphics are 2D. The screen is full of colors, and many elements of the levels are movable. The soundtrack is a series of simple sounds, which resembles the soundtrack of games from several years ago.
