The Book of Unwritten Tales is a point & click adventure game that takes a humorous approach to fantasy and role-playing. Behind the production of the title are Bremen programmers from KING Art Games, who participated in the work on such titles as Simon the Sorcerer 4, The Black Mirror 2 or Dual Screen, inspired by Cornelia Funke Inkheart's book.

The Book of Unwritten Tales begins as archaeologist Mortimer MacGuffin finds a mysterious artifact with a powerful power during the war in a fairy-tale world. Legend has it that the one who owns the treasure will be able to decide the fate of all existing lands. The agents of the cruel Shadow Army are trying to capture the magic object, and in order to thwart their plan, the Allies fighting for peace send three daredevils on mission - the elven Ivodora, the man Nathaniel and the gnome Wilbur. Soon they will also be joined by a nice creature named Critter, who also wants to participate in the adventure. The player can control each of the characters and switch between the charges at any time to use their unique abilities to solve more than 150 puzzles, collect and combine 200 items and engage in dialogues with individuals such as double-headed stallions, vegetarian dragons, elderly but still lively mummies or even death itself.

The whole action takes place in 60 two-dimensional locations, prerendered by the OGRE engine. The silhouettes of the characters were made in full 3D, and more than 150 concept sketches were created for the visual setting. The Book of Unwritten Tales offers graphics at resolutions up to 1920x1200 pixels with optional edge smoothing as well as numerous particle effects - smoke, fog and realistic flames. In addition, the authors took care of the musical side of their project, equipping the product with a soundtrack of 25 tracks.
