Splinter Cell Trilogy is a re-edition of the first three installments in a popular stealth game series telling the story of agent Sam Fisher.

All games in this collection are based on similar gameplay mechanics. You play as Sam Fisher, an experienced member of a secret organization called Third Echelon, operating on behalf of the American NSA (National Security Agency). The protagonist is sent on extremely delicate missions that demand high precision, so that the enemy did not find out about anything until it is done. Fisher sneaks into enemy territory alone and most of the time he remains undetected. Such effective infiltration is only possible thanks to modern gadgets and extraordinary physical fitness. Mostly, you play in third person perspective. All the time you need to remain hidden in the shadows and sneak past guards who are patrolling a given area. Killing or stunning an opponent is the last resort and should too be done silently. If an enemy sees you or his friend’s body (which you failed to hide well enough), the alarm is triggered, increasing alertness and number of guards. Most missions are failed, after a couple alarms are raised.

The collection consists of three games of the series. The first one (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell) is set in 2004, and introduces the player into the dark world of the Third Echelon. Sam Fisher gets an assignment of finding trace of two CIA agents who went dark somewhere in the territory of Georgia. It soon becomes clear that the situation in this country is much more critical than it seemed. The world is threatened with another war, and it is you who must prevent that.

The second part (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow) takes place in 2006, mainly in Indonesia. The local guerrilla leader Sadono, who was earlier trained by CIA to fight communism, is fed up with the presence of foreign troops in his country and intends to take over power. To this end, he starts a large-scale campaign of terror against the United States and their citizens, the first step of which being capturing the local American Embassy. Soon it turns out that Sadono managed to deploy biological bombs on the US territory and threatens to set them off, in case anything was to happen to him. Since the American Army has its hands tied, Sam Fisher is sent into action.

The third part (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory) is set in 2007. It all starts with kidnapping of a certain programmer and things quickly escalate into a cyberwarfare between North Korea, China, Japan, and South Korea.

All games in the collection were created with Unreal Engine 2.0 technology, however, for Chaos Theory the engine went through many upgrades, so the game supports more advanced visual effects. At the same time, all three games have had their graphics improved, when it comes to resolution and frames per second.
