Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is another version of a well-known platformer. This game was released on such hardware platforms as SNES, Jaguar, or Genesis. The idea for the entire Pitfall series was born in the 1980s. Unfortunately, the developer did not foresee the possibility of testing the original version of the game. So you can only count on the title The Mayan Adventure. This conversion does not make any revolutionary changes to the fun, offering the same levels and very close control. The only major changes included the quality of graphics. However, we are still dealing with a two-dimensional platform where the main character is observed from the side. Pipe Dream Interactive is responsible for the preparation of this conversion. For GameBoy Advance owners, Pipe Dream Interactive has also developed such games as Aerial Aces or Fortress.

In the course of the game we play the role of Harry Pitfall Junior. The boy sets out to look for his father. As a result, we have ten quite extensive boards to overcome. The main character visits, among others, the Amazon jungle, the ruins of the temple left by the Incas, or the mines not visited for several centuries. It is worth mentioning here that the boards are very demanding. First of all, the player must be able to cope with avoiding the obstacles encountered. One of the most commonly used options is of course hopping on lianas. However, there were also more classic inserts, which consisted in getting to the higher platforms.

The character controlled by us must also cope with the opponents we meet. They are mostly carnivorous animals. Harry must eliminate, among other things, venomous snakes, huge scorpions, or various types of lizards. One of the most interesting options concerns the use of boomerang, thanks to which we can get rid of these creatures. The Mayan Adventure does not have any multiplayer modes. This arcade game was created exclusively for a single player.
