Train Simulator 2017

Simulation 15 September 2016

Another installment in the railway-themed simulation game series, whose consecutive releases have been developed by Dovetail Games since 2009. Train Simulator 2017 is based on the same technology that powered the previous game. The biggest innovation are the four new routes: players can drive across Germany (between Lubeck and Hamburg), the United States (New York – New Jersey), France (Marseille Saint Charles to Avignon TGV), and the Great Britain (Bristol – Cardiff). Moreover, Train Simulator 2017 offers new locomotives, spearheaded by TGV Duplex, DB BR 218, and NJ TRANSIT ALP-45DP. Just as it was previously, the new game is fully compatible with Steam Workshop, therefore fans are free to create their own content and share it with the entire community. As always, the core gameplay element in Train Simulator 2017 is the career mode, which lets you take part in several dozen diverse scenarios.

Train Simulator 2016

Simulation 17 September 2015

Another annual edition of one of the most popular train simulators. For many years the series was developed Rail Simulation Developments. The foundations of the new installment remain unchanged and the game still focuses mostly on controlling various train types on tracks located in different corners of the world. The player can select from many faithfully recreated rail tracks and realistic models of actual trains. Train Simulator 2016 is a technical revolution for the series, introducing the game to the modern Unreal Engine 4 technology. This had a very positive impact on the graphics of the title, but it also made the DLC created for the previous games incompatible with the 2016 installment. The players are forced to build their large base of expansions from scratch. The game traditionally offers an advanced editor which enables the player to create their own locomotives, locations and tasks.

Another installment in the popular series of train simulators that was started in 2007 under the title Rail Simulator (and was later renamed to RailWorks). The series is developed by the team from RailSimulator.com, under the trademark Dovetail Games. The 2015 edition continues the traditions of the series by allowing the fans of railroads to control various train models on tracks located in different regions of the world. The game contains some tracks and trains that are completely new – including ones that aren’t mass produced yet. The game also has an advanced editor that allows the players to create their own tracks, locomotives and missions. The greatest novelty introduced in this installment is the TS Academy, a tutorial that helps all the novice players in learning the basic controls. The new entry in the series uses the same graphics engine as its predecessor and is fully compatible with all previously released expansion packs. The owners of the 2014 edition received the new version as a free update.

A new entry in the most popular series of railway simulators, continuously created by Dovetail Games studio. In line with the tradition, the developers introduced a number changes and updates, including a rebuilt career system. The players can once again steer various railway engines – from steam engines through diesel ones and up to modern electric systems. This time, our progress in the game is illustrated by a number of gathered points, which are a currency for different medals and achievements. Additionally, the user interface received a complete overhaul – a more transparent HUD allows for better orientation in the current situation not only for skilled players, but also for complete amateurs. Train Simulator 2014 also introduces a number of new visual effects, as well as high-quality textures. The game is compatible with all previously released add-ons, while the owners of the previous editions receive a free upgrade to the 2014 version.

Trains Vs Zombies 2
Trains Vs Zombies 2

Simulation 25 October 2012

A spin-off of the Railworks: Train Simulator series, created by Dovetail Games. Once again, the player receives an extensive train simulator that casts them in the role of a train driver, though this time the circumstances are rather unfavorable, for the world has come to a zombie apocalypse. All the five in-game scenarios require the player to travel a route within a specified period of time. The player is placed in control of an AEM-7 locomotive, and their goal is to transport survivors to the safe New York Penn Station. In comparison to the previous installments, core mechanics remained unchanged, but the player's task is also to prevent the undead from climbing the train cars - the only way to do that is to increase the speed of the train, which makes the zombies fall down on the tracks. What is new as well, is a special mission that requires the players to cooperate in order to eliminate the threat. Additionally, Trains vs Zombies 2 is set entirely in New York.

RailWorks: Train Simulator 2013

Simulation 20 September 2012

Another installment of a popular series of railway simulators from Dovetail Games. This time, the developers introduced a number of major changes in many aspects of the gameplay. The amateur railwaymen can now expect streamlined controls (the authors introduced gamepad support), and various difficulty levels. Additionally, the Quick Drive mode has received certain improvements, introducing the ability to set the hour and the time of the day, while the embedded editor that enables us to create our own railway tracks, locomotives, and scenarios, was integrated with the Steam Workshop platform. The mainstay of the game is still the campaign, consisting of fifty scenarios, while the gameplay still focuses on steering trains, powered by modern, electric engines, as well as steam, or diesel propulsion. The graphic engine powering RailWorks: Train Simulator 2013 also received certain improvements, which resulted in more detailed textures and introduction of dynamic lighting.

Simulation 23 September 2011

Another entry in the complex simulation game series, in which players take on the role of a train driver. Once again, the game was developed by Dovetail Games studio, who has also given us a tutorial that introduces us to basics of gameplay. There is also a career mode, in which we must complete dozens of varied missions. Quite obviously, we drive many different trains: from modern inventions to machines from the age of steam. The rich selection of tracks contains both real-life and fictional routes. Additionally, the editor returns in RailWorks 3: Train Simulator 2012, allowing for creation of custom routes – not only with various length and shape, but also through different types of terrain and with various surrounding objects. Finally, we can design trains and even whole scenarios, all of which can be shared with the game’s community.

Simulation 18 October 2010

A continuation to the railway simulator from 2009 created by Dovetail Games. Similarly to its predecessor, the game introduces the ability to travel along the European and American railways – including realas well as fictional tracks. The mainstay of the game is the Career System, consisting of 50 scenarios, in which we control different railway engines, trying to complete the given tasks. These include, for example, crossing a mountainous pass, saving passengers from a snowstorm, or controlling a train going over 200 kilometers per hour. Same as the previous edition, RailWorks 2 contains an advanced editor, which allows the player to not only design their own locomotives, railways, and scenarios, but also share them with the RailWorks community. The game is complemented by detailed 3D visuals, while the action is seen from several pre-defined camera views.

RailWorks
RailWorks

Simulation 12 June 2009

An advanced railway simulator created by Dovetail Games studio. The game is a platform to create and manage virtual railways. There are thirteen locomotives at our disposal – among them we can find American F7, or German V200. While behind the console, we travel on real railway lines, including the British Oxford – Paddington, and the American Cajun Pass. Fictional railways appear next to real ones, while monotony is averted by the ability to design and share your own tracks with the online community. A special, advanced editor allows for creating railway engines and personal scenarios – the game offers 50 of them at the beginning. RailWorks includes high-quality 3D visuals, which isn’t surprising considering the developers were also responsible for incredibly popular Microsoft Train Simulator.
